Pre-loading readiness

A propylene oxide cargo in view?

Our team reviews your vessel for propylene oxide readiness before the accredited pre-loading survey.

Know what needs attention.

A ship can look ready for PO and still fall short in survey or vetting. Equipment, procedures, documentation and cargo history all need to meet the requirements.

Our pre-inspection gives you a clear picture before the cargo is fixed. Where something needs attention, you know what to address before the official survey.

What we inspect

A complete check of PO readiness.

Equipment

Cargo and tank systems, nitrogen and inerting arrangements, gauging, gas detection and safety equipment.

Procedures

Cargo handling, tank preparation for previous-cargo limits and emergency procedures.

Management

Cargo history, documentation and the organisation of master and crew.

Need a PO Manual?

We prepare it for the vessel, its tanks, systems and trade. See PO Manual

Before the official survey

Find the gaps while there is still time.

A PO cargo requires an accredited pre-loading survey and charterer vetting. Problems found at that stage can delay the cargo when there is least time to respond.

ChemServe checks the ship beforehand. We do not replace the official survey. We show you what to address before it takes place.

What you receive

A clear report before the official survey.

The pre-inspection takes four to eight hours on board. You receive a written report with the findings and the points to address before the official survey.

Questions

About PO pre-inspections.

What does a PO pre-inspection include?
A check of the ship against the requirements for propylene oxide: the cargo and tank systems, the nitrogen and inerting arrangements, the safety equipment, the tank preparation for the previous-cargo limits, and the procedures and organisation on board. It ends in a written report with the findings and the corrective actions.
How long does a PO pre-inspection take?
Four to eight hours on board, depending on the ship and its cargo history.
How do I prepare for a PO inspection?
Have the ship pre-inspected before the accredited pre-loading survey. The pre-inspection establishes whether it meets the requirements and, where it does not, what to correct first.
Who carries out the official PO inspection?
The accredited pre-loading survey is carried out by surveyors such as SGS, Bureau Veritas or Intertek, alongside charterer vetting. ChemServe is independent of them; we prepare the ship for their survey.
Do we also need a PO manual?
A ship-specific propylene oxide manual is expected for carrying PO, and it is checked in survey and vetting. We write it, specific to your ship.
